Fleas on the Coat
Reddish-brown insects about 2mm long moving through your pet’s fur. Part the hair near the tail base and belly and look fast — they jump.

Why didn’t the flea bomb work?
Foggers kill exposed adult fleas and very little else. Eggs, larvae, and pupae tucked into carpet fibers and cracks ride it out, then hatch over the following weeks — which is why the fleas “come back” two weeks later. They never left; the next generation just matured. On top of that, fleas have developed resistance to the insecticide families most store products use.
My pet is on flea medication. Why do we still have fleas?
Pet treatment protects the pet; it doesn’t clear the home or yard. Eggs already in your carpet keep hatching, and an infested yard keeps re-seeding the problem every time your pet goes outside. The fix is treating all three fronts at once: the pet (through your vet), the house, and the yard.
Can fleas make my family or pets sick?
Flea-borne disease is relatively rare in the U.S., but fleas can transmit parasites like tapeworm to pets, and reactions are common: flea saliva causes itchy patches or rashes in sensitive people, and dogs and cats can develop flea-bite dermatitis with lesions and hair loss. If your pet’s skin looks bad, a vet visit is worth it alongside treating the home.
What should I do before the treatment?
Vacuum thoroughly (carpets, rugs, furniture, floorboard cracks) and empty the vacuum outside so nothing crawls back out. Wash pet bedding in hot water. Pick clutter up off the floor so treatments can reach it. We’ll give you the full prep list at the inspection, tailored to your home.
Is the treatment safe around my pets and kids?
Products are applied per label directions and targeted to where fleas actually live rather than broadcast everywhere. For flea work we ask that pets be out of the home for about four hours, and treated areas are typically fine once dry. Tell us about any pet or family health sensitivities at the inspection and we’ll review exactly what we plan to use and where.
How long until the fleas are gone?
Expect a big drop after the first treatment, then a smaller wave as pupae that were protected in their cocoons hatch out — that’s normal and the follow-up visit is timed to catch it.
